Re: When to change electric strings?

If you play regularly....change the strings 4 times per year. Once a quarter......it's easy to remember and it gives you a chance to clean and condition the fretboard, maybe go over the frets with steel wool........it's just good guitar maintenance and keeps strings (relatively) fresh.

Re: I Can NEVER Get Pro Tone!

There are a lot of great tone/playing tips above, definitely take all of that into consideration. Having said that........I won't get into tone on the microscopic level.....more macro. Most of my favorite flatpicker/bluegrass influences tend to use heavier picks. Thinner picks are great for strummin...

Re: Collings Logo inside the guitar

I see one of the signatures in the guitar is of Ed Reynolds. He's a really well-regarded luthier/tech in Austin now.

WTB: Soundhole Cover/Feedback Buster OM1

I need a feedback buster for an OM1. My wife stands in front of a wedge monitor on our gigs and we need to control some low-end rumble. The OM1 soundhole is smaller than the standard 4-inch soundhole on most acoustic guitars. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks much.

Collings Restored Our Damaged OM1

At a recent wedding reception gig, the drunk mother of the bride actually fell on top of my wife's OM1. The headstock was broken in two, it was cracked in several places and there were some dings on the top of the guitar that actually pierced the lacquer. We just bought the guitar in March and we we...

Re: Feedback Buster for OM1?

Has anyone been successful with finding a feedback buster for an OM sized Collings? My wife stands in front of a wedge monitor with her OM and sometimes we get a low end rumble that could be eliminated with a feedback buster. The OM has a slightly smaller sound hole - less than the standard 4 inches...

Re: Effect of picks on sound.

I worked in music retail for many years. On one snowy very slow day at the store, the guitar teachers and I decided to play/listen test all of the picks in the store. We had a great selection - probably more than your local GC has. We played and listened to every kind and style of pick you can imagi...
