Re: NAMM 2020

Yup. Collings confirmed it by email. They’re on the 2020 price list, but not on the website yet.

Re: OM1-A Varnish "High Upkeep"

“...the varnish finish was very hard to care for” I would not agree with this statement. There’s not much “care” except for wiping it off occasionally as with any other finish. “...show every a mark in it to reflect all that got close to it (shirt buttons, even seams..) Sure, it will register erran...

Re: OM1-A Varnish "High Upkeep"

I’ve had a varnished dread for ~12 years. It doesn’t get extensive play time because I have other guitars too, but I wouldn’t say it requires much special care. Sure, the varnish is a softer finish than lacquer, so it would probably dent easier. But treat it like any guitar deserves to be treated an...

Re: NAMM 2020

I’ve been waiting to hear if the mahogany 12-fret there was a Traditional model. I saw it in a picture hanging on the top row, small pickguard, and what appeared to be tortoise bridge pins like a T model. Was it a 00 or 0? The 0-T version already exists and Collings hasn’t announce a new 00-12 fret ...

Re: NAMM 2020

00-14 fret models. Finally! I think these have been on some wish lists for a long time. The website says five models. I guess these are 001, 002, 003, 001T, 002T?

Re: Where do you find good, used Collings guitars?

Welcome back, Bob. A lot of the Collings folks are using groups on Facebook dedicated to Collings guitars. I remember the busy days on the old forum too, but seems even it was slowing down before it crashed. The guitar market isn’t what it used to be either. New prices have climbed and used prices s...

Re: Why Does Collings Ship Guitars and Cases Separately?

Collings has stopped shipping/selling their guitars in the Collings-made cases. I assume they’re being sold again in the usual TKL cases. If you want a Collings-made case, you have to buy it separately, directly from Collings or from a dealer that might have some in stock.

No. The dealers must sell at list price.
