You don’t see these every day

I have a lefty SJ from the same period and it really changed my thinking about maple guitars. This price is surprising.

Re: Is Collings changing after Bill?

When I heard the first whisper of them stopping production, I bought one. I’m glad I did! I kept the original case for transporting.

Re: A good week to buy a Collings.

I broke down and bought a Collings case for my OM42. They’re a work of art

Re: Collings 6/1

I was told by a dealer that all cases were being discontinued. It didn’t make any sense to me after they’d put so much money and effort in to them. Then I remembered they stopped making ukes too, so I guess it’s possible.

Re: Does this "Collings" 0001 look 'legit' to you???

With no pick guard you won't find an easier one to convert. :-) Believe me, I thought about it. I’d hate to modify a Collings that early in production and the way Bill angled his bridge pins to follow the saddle would make it look really odd with a lefty saddle.. on the other hand, I’d bet a $100 t...

The ad says, “circa 1990”, I wonder what the serial number is? Oct 1990 is low 300s. If it was left handed I would have already made an offer for it. The early guitars are very special (IMHO).

Re: Does this "Collings" 0001 look 'legit' to you???

Bill had just finished up the guitars for Gruhn that brought him to everyone’s attention in 1990. Those guitars had Engelmann tops, as I suspect my Oct. 1990 guitar has. Here’s a link to a pic of the early type logo on my guitar that is exactly like the logo on the eBay guitar. https://www.dropbox.c...

Re: Does this "Collings" 0001 look 'legit' to you???

PS. I forgot to add that I’ve owned over a dozen Collings acoustics over the years. Brazilian, Madagascar, Indian, mahogany and my early Collings is the best sounding guitar of the bunch. I never thought a maple guitar could be so good. I think it was just Bill and Bruce and maybe one other guy then...
