Re: New Puchase Collings OM2HC - a few questions, thanks
Teja, the original OM design produced from 1929-early '34 is a superb design. If you add a deep body to a Collings OM i think you'll lose some of the ideal tonal balance and cut...and i think that will affect recording and on stage sound management. Every new guitar is going to sound somewhat green ...

Re: New Puchase Collings OM2HC - a few questions, thanks
Teja, Collings are remarkably consistent....which is a good thing, but even though you could spend more money than the cost of the guitar, travelling the USA looking for the one that sounded incrementally better than average, at some time you have to accept what's in front of you and make the best ...

Re: CJ 45T
FF, I don't know exactly what formula they've used, but the CJ45 is finding great acceptance. Love the sound of the one Bob Minner plays. A good picking buddy bought the CJ45T adirondack from Folkway Music during the pandemic (at the time the only one in Canada). He has a Martin OM, Collings D2HG ...

In the life of the guitar, it's a bump in the road. You know Collings will take care of it & you''ll play happily ever after....

Re: Hoping for Waterloo alternatives
godfreyd, Collings is still producing Waterloos and mandolins albeit at a slower pace than before. It's unlikely that we'll ever see $1850 Waterloos or Collings MTs again. I'd say it's also unlikely you'll see Collings employees setting up to make their own Waterloos. It's just too hard to get ...

Re: Bridges
I've had both..... but more belly bridges. 0,00,000.... all 14 frets. My best example with a pyramid bridge was a 0001G long scale...... incredibly powerful guitar.... I've played more 12 frets with pyramids. Then again 30s 40s Gibsons.J35 J45 J50s had pyramid bridges. I did try 13-56 on the 0001G ...

I don't have a TKL, but here are some photos of one of Bill's cases.....including a photo side by side with a '30s case.

Re: When Did Collings Stop Shipping With Custom Cases?
Collings made the announcement about ceasing case production early in 2019.

so it's entirely feasible that guitars from later in the year were shipped in TKL cases.....

Re: Collings Necks: T vs Mod-V vs Waterloo
IMO the standard Collngs 'modified V' would fit perfectly in between the T and the WL. Being modelled on the Kalamazoo and Gibson L-00 guitars of the 30s, the WL are rather crude or inelegant in design. These are very specific and bear no resemblance to the typical Martin necks of the 30s.....or the ...
