I talked with Mark at HQ.
Using slotted pins on guitars prior to 2002 is required even though the bridge is slotted.

Question on 1999 D-1 Pins...
I bought my 1999 Collings D-1 new at Gryphon that year. It came with a slotted bridge and slotted sting pins. The pin slots were positioned with the slots pointing toward the bridge slots. Does that make sense? I always thought if you had a slotted bridge you should use pins that were not slotted. O...

Re: Collings Case Vs. Calton
All of my guitars live in Hiscox Pro II cases. I leave my D2H in a high altitude, low humidity location. I use Humidipacs and have zero problems. IMO you can't beat these Hiscox cases. For around $300 you get everything you need. Lightweight, strength (up until the pandemic hit, I made on average th...

Re: 0002H T limited run?
$8750.00 is the price and all 24 are already built. Gryphon is one of the dealers who will be receiving one (just one per dealer). For me the deep body option is a major PLUS. In my experience, the deep body option eliminates the "boxiness" I hear in most guitars smaller than a dread. I'm ...

Re: Buying 1st Collings Assistance
I've owned a number of Collings guitars (all dreads) over the years since I bought my first one at Gryphon in 1999. That first one is still my favorite and it's a '99 D-1. Out of all the others (pair of D2H's, pair of D2HA's, D-42AV...), it's still my favorite. I've demo'd many Traditionals, but the...

Re: OM deep body
A couple of years ago I had Martin build me a Custom 000-18GE with the following options: * Deep body * 1 11/16" nut * Mod V neck w/full gloss * 1935 Sunburst * No runout (not a option, but you can request it and they really delivered) I've never owned a smaller body than a dread because I alwa...

Agreed.
The new owner is an accomplished player. I'm happy that one is going to a good home and an owner who really knows how to play.

Re: Change in Adhesive on T Models
I wouldn't care if they held the guitars together with Scotch Tape!
As long as they look and sound like they always have, I'm more than happy!
