Re: New Guitar & Harmonic Resonance

Congrats on your Collings acoustic guitar. It is a fine one! Materials, design, build, and tuning are all factors that will affect the voice and playability of an acoustic guitar. Collings of course is one of the premier builders so their combos are near the top of the food chain. Assuming great woo...

Re: Welcome to my new OM1A-jl

Two hundred and fifty people have viewed your post and not a single comment. That just is astonishing to me. The JL model is something special in the Collings OM line. It is articulate and pure. It is easy to play even for those of us that prefer a nut width a pinch wider. Congratulations on a fine ...

Re: Collings I-35 Deluxe

The video uses too much processing. A clean recording would show the somewhat subtle differences though. The laminate damps just a little of certain frequencies (mostly highs). This give a smoother, darker sound than the solid version. Laminate gives a slightly more rounder sound and a little less s...

Re: Why is This Forum Dead?

Dilution of content into too many places. When people come to the site, they may only want to talk about Collings guitars or buy and sell. Having so many categories means many posts are never seen so they are not responded to. You can see by the number of views in each sub forum how many people are ...

Re: Why is This Forum Dead?

The intended purpose I think is perhaps the opposite of how the line came to be. Collings guitars have the reputation of being top quality for looks, finish, sound, playability. They are premier instruments. The history of the kind of guitar that inspired the Waterloo line comes from a different lin...

Re: Why is This Forum Dead?

I remember the year that Collings had the first one at the winter NAMM. It was not released yet. Bill played that thing endlessly for multiple days there. We were talking, he was playing. I can still see his face and the joy and pride that he had with the Waterloo line. Great instrument for its inte...

Re: Why is This Forum Dead?

The deadness of the site may in fact be partially my fault. I had tried to create sub forums for specific instruments and other discussions. It could be that it is too much clicking for most that want to stay in their own interest area. Perhaps it was a tactical error for me to split so many things....

Re: 1st Look @ My Collings I30LC

Nice optical illusion! Without the hardware it took a moment to realize that Collings was not starting to put their name on the back of the headstock. lol

Looks like a nice build.

Re: ‘Builder’s Choice’

I have not seen anything official but I think what you are seeing is a changing of the guards. With Bill and Bruce no longer there, there is a new team selecting the wood and giving their own version of the voicing. You can read more about it here: https://acousticguitar.com/steve-nall-steps-into-a-...
