Strings for a WL-S Deluxe

Howdy. I finally scratched an itch for a WL-S Deluxe a few weeks ago. Took me forever to find it, and would not have without help from Kim Sherman at the North American Guitar Co. in Nashville. Bought it used, so it would be great to know if it belonged to someone here. Anyway, I did not immediately...

Re: sitka surprise!

I have a Collings D1 I bought about 13 years ago that holds its own with almost any guitar I've ever played. It's not baked, sauted or fried, or anything of the kind. It's just an off-the-shelf sitka-topped D1. I think the only non-spec feature might be that the neck is a scoosh wider than standard,...

I think we've all been very respectful and affirming of the heretic.

Re: Label Removal

It was kind of any orangey attempted fakey sunburst. I bought it at Fuller's Vintage Guitars in Houston probably at least a decade ago. My friend still owns it, so maybe it will make it back into the fold someday. I can't remember the exact year it was made. I'm not sure the serial number was clear ...

Re: Label Removal

The resale element mentioned above is also interesting. I have no doubts that you intend to keep this guitar forever, but I've said that about 80% of the guitars I've owned, and felt so firmly, until one day another offer hit my lap and they were sold. At one point, my D2H was *the* sound I wanted ...

Re: Label Removal

I'd be surprised if anyone else has done this. No offense. It's your guitar of course, but I'd envision imagine future owners in the coming decades wondering what possessed you. It's obviously not like removing the serial number, but I'd want a discount on resale before I'd consider a Collings that ...

Re: Collings 01

I've got a 000-1A that has the same crack. It was a humidity thing. I went out of town for work and we had a deep cold snap; the heater dried out the air so much that the crack developed virtually overnight. I had it repaired with cleats by John Allison in Austin. The crack occurred 8-10 years ago, ...

Waterloo WL-AT

Yum. Maybe I'd finally learn to play some Western swing chords if one of these appeared in my lap. It's a really intriguing instrument.
