Re: New CJ35 With Huge Defect On The Back

I hope they make it right too. The guitar arrived back at CME yesterday. Waiting to hear about the refund.

Re: What CAPO?!?

By the way, I don't think my Elliott Elite capo is worth $160. But that's what they cost, and that's what enough people are willing to pay for them to keep Phil Elliott's little operation in business. I don't think a Collings CJ35 is worth between $5-6 thousand dollars either, but as soon as I come ...

Re: What CAPO?!?

I like that I can adjust the Elliott Elite to the exact amount of pressure needed to not have any buzzes on any strings. I start with it loose and just tighten it enough to remove all buzzing. That puts the minimum pressure on the strings and has the least effect on pulling the notes sharp. It's als...

Re: What CAPO?!?

I too have had several capos. After getting an Elliott Elite, I see no reason to even look at other types. For me, it's perfect.

Re: T-Bar or Truss Rod?

I'm sure the T-bar version would have been fine for me. Unfortunately the guitar I wanted is not available with that configuration.

No, I would not have returned it. I may buy another one at some point, but I will have a LOT of questions for the seller before I commit.

Re: New CJ35 With Huge Defect On The Back

No, no replacement. They will send me a full refund, and that's fine with me. Honestly, although that CJ35 sounded and played really nice, it was not even twice as good as my $1100 Eastman E10SS. Prettier yes, better sounding yes, but not enough to justify the price.

Re: New CJ35 With Huge Defect On The Back

Their sales manager apologized, and is sending me some new Martin strings they got in as a promo. I don't need any strings right now, but sometime I will.

Re: New CJ35 With Huge Defect On The Back

After some back and forth with CME, they said they will have it picked up and issue me a full refund. They admitted the guitar was in their showroom for over a year, and that when they told me it was new they "could have been more clear with their description".
