Re: OM1ASB Adi Braces FS/FT price reduced

Hey all, I would like to offer this up for $3500. Let me know if you have any questions. It really is an amazing guitar especially if you need projection in a small body. I used it in bluegrass jams and it really cuts through (leans toward the Selmer tone IMHO). But I have also used it in small inti...

2018 OM1T FS

Hey all, We are trying to pay off some bills, get a new car, etc. so I am having to let one go. I bought this from TME a few months ago and it is super wide open - much more than a typical Collings OM. The sitka is beautifully silked all over and I can't find a single mark on it other than a few fin...

truss rod adjustment

Hey all, I talked to Mark Althans about putting medium-gauge strings on an OM1T and he said it should be totally fine but I might need to give the truss rod a quarter of a turn to accommodate the increased tension. I put on some Pearse New Mediums (so not quite medium gauge) and the action did creep...

Re: sitka surprise!

Silly, I totally agree. I was a red spruce snob for a long time (partially because of the research I have done on it over the past 20 years - I study wood for a living). But I am so smitten with this guitar. I love the soft compression and the fatness of the treble notes. Everything else has been in...

sitka surprise!

Hey all, I wanted the forum know how impressed I am with my new OM1T (purchsed from the kind folks at TME). I have owned seven Collings acoustics (D's and OM's) and currently have a D1AT and an OM1A in addition to the OM1T. You probably know where this is going..... I honestly thought I was an adiro...

OM1ASB Adi Braces FS/FT

Hey all, I am putting up my 2014 Collings OM1A for sale or for trade (see below). It was a custom order through Kim at Cotten and it has a slightly darker burst than normal with slightly darker back and sides as well (walnut stain). The burst is amazing - pictures really don't do it justice. The gui...

Re: Has anyone split strings?

That is funny because I do the exact opposite on my OM1A and D1AT. I use a 13 and a 17 on the E and B and then a light set for the rest. To me it sounds more balanced that way with fatter trebles (and less jangly) but to each his or her own! That is part of the fun in string experimentation....
