Loving all the responses so far!

Bob - Curious how you'd describe the differences between adi vs german over mahogany? Do you prefer one over the other for certain styles of music?

Favorite Collings tonewood combo

Curious to hear everyone’s favorite tonewood combo for top/sides on a Collings, along with what style(s) of music you like this for. I’ll go first... I like Adirondack/Mahogany for detailed solo work, both fingerstyle and flatpick. Clear, authoritative and woody, with golden high overtones. Your turn!

Bourgeois OM

Anyone have any experience with how Bourgeois OM’s compare to their Collings counterparts in terms of tone, EQ, feel, etc?

Re: Collings Julian Lage OM

I had an OM1AJL and I miss it dearly (looking to get another). I play everything from lead to fingerstyle to rhythm. I would not put anything else but NB lights on a Julian. I tried my old JL with PB's and did not love it as much. This might sound strange, but if I wanted to used 80/20's or PBs, I'...

Re: Tell me about your Collings OM1 - Sitka

For one guitar that does everything well, you’ve come to the right place with the OM1! The hard part is choosing among the various incarnations (top woods, neck profile, standard vs trad, etc). To answer your Q’s based on my experience: How do you like the neck and overall playability of your OM1? -...

Re: Direct comparison between standard ad "T" models?

My impressions are pretty similar to what's already been said, in my case owning an OM1A that I later traded in for an OM1AT. While the standard was a superb guitar with limitless volume... as a predominantly solo fingerstyle player, I found the T to suit me better due to its wider string spacing, e...

Re: Thoughts on the OM1T

My advice is to trust your gut, and also try before you buy whenever possible. Even though Collings are as consistent as they come, they still produce a combo of instant home-runs, late-bloomers, and occasional duds. Case in point: I owned an OM1A for 2 years. Fantastic guitar but I wished it had a ...
