I have an OM2HG. Less than a year old. I too get strange sounds but mainly from G, B, and skinny E. They don't need to be fretted to get the strange sound. Just pluck them with your finger. The sound is almost like a fret buzz brittle sound.....and that's with no fretting at all. Doesn't matter what...

Just talked to Collings factory, They sell this case for $315. Ignore the $350 price, that came from a dealer.
