Re: Price increase question

The fact that Collings has decided to do away with the 10% discount (which equates to a price increase) has become almost controversial to some people. I am not sure why it is such a big deal. It's not like Collings has priced themselves out of the market or even beyond their niche competitors. The ...

Re: Label Removal

I pulled the back labels out of a martin D Mahogany 09. They looked horrible, like outfield signage in a baseball field. They came right out and intact. The new owner was happy to have them gone whenI sold it. I'd never pull the label out of my D1T, but I can see why you pulled it out of your 002H. ...

Re: Price increase question

The shop I worked in always raised prices on our in stock instruments when the companies implemented a price increase. A 2015 OM1A, that is still clean with no shop wear, is no different than the 2019 OM1A hanging next to it. There is no "sell by" date on a guitar. It all comes down to which one the...

Re: Strings on your D (1-3)

My D1T arrived with D'Addario J17's. I have a set of what has become my "go to" strings, Martin Monel Retro mediums on it right now. I like them just fine, but I plan to try a set of DR Rare 13-56 and a set of SCGC Mid Tension on future string changes.

Re: Collings D2HA Varnish High E String "Falling" Off The Edge Of The Fretboard

I owned a D1A and currently have a D1T. I worked in a Collings dealer where I sold and or played dozens of other Collings, yet I have never run across this issue with any Collings. Was it like this from the beginning? If not, have there been any changes in the geometry or anything else? Have you had...

Re: New Collings C100

That's a beautiful guitar. I like the back wood. And it's a long scale with medium gauge strings; I am sure that small body puts out some sound. Congratulations.

Re: Collings Playability

I have played a lot of Collings guitars and never felt the playability was anything less than easy. The new Traditional neck is about the perfect profile for me. I like the Vintage Now and ModV necks too.

Re: Torrified Guitar Tops

I just bought a new D1T with a baked Sitka top. Other than a 1934-38 D18, it is the guitar I have dreamed about owning for over 20 years. I have had a D1A and several iterations of D18s over the years, but this Traditional with the baked top sounds unusually beautiful. I know the tone is a combinati...

Though I don't have one, I think a Collings version of a Smeck would be pretty cool.

I'd like to see a 12 fret version of the JK.
