Re: Loose nut!

I'm also of the opinion that a fully glued-in nut is overkill (not to mention a potential issue for future repairs), though I prefer some degree of adhesion. A small drop of glue is enough to make me happy and rattle-free. As long as the contact point is solid, as Frank mentioned, and free of old gl...

FWIW I put SD '59's in my CLD but the Lollars are on standby duty.
Update: finally put the original Lollars back in, I had never heard them in this guitar as I bought it with SD's preinstalled. I like the Lollars, sold the SD's.
I thought you might. :)

Eric, There's a "Collings Gathering" member from the eastern USA, named Jim who has a brazillian CW serial # 300 if I'm not mistaken. One of the finest guitars i've heard. Made in 1990. Wonderful guitar.

Wow. I'm sure that's a phenomenal guitar.

Re: pre/post 2013?

if you haven't heard a 20 or 30 year old Collings.... you're missing something. Agreed. I think you can also hear great improvements in younger guitars. In my case, it was about 7 years where the 2001 D2H matured into a finer sound. And I've heard that from a few others -- that 5-7 years is where t...

Re: pre/post 2013?

There's some salesmanship in that statement, no doubt, but he may not be wrong. I've never seen a careful poll to validate it, though there have been a few marked changes that most might consider an upgrade to the previous construction methods. As Hokiebob said, these aren't major shifts, but they w...

Re: Wireless Guitar Cable

I may have to give it a try. I really like the idea of the (highly) shortened cable length, but worry about the added A/D and D/A and the subsequent compressed sound you mentioned.

Re: Wireless Guitar Cable

Frank -- do they sound the same as your typical cable?
