Re: Value of a 1996 D1A
It depends on all the normal factors - what options to the base model does your D1A have? If you have a Sitka top and no options, you could probably get between $4000 and $4800 depending on condition. Deduct for dents, dings, scratches, worn frets, repairs, worn areas any needed maintenance or damag...

Re: Questions on Collings Traditional Cases
It seems that no one has ever needed to make their own case (or else everyone would). Collings found out pretty quickly that diluting your production capabilities by venturing into cases was an anchor to be rid of. They claimed to never have made any profit on the cases, and if I remember correctly,...

Thanks for the info. However, anyone buying a $4,000+ toy should be buying from a trusted person or site.

Re: Why are so many baked and traditional guitars up for sale?
I know I'm 50 days, or so, getting to this post but, it must have been a fluke. There are no OM2H Traditional guitars available at all. It must have been a pre-Christmas - let's get these out for Christmas, in late December. I've not noticed any excess of Collings guitars on the market recently.

Re: What Guitars do you have that you wish you could get by Collings?
None. I don't buy "X" brand guitars because they copied the 'Y" brand guitar I really like. I buy guitars that speak to me to be used in my professional work. I buy Martins for what they bring to the table. I buy Collings for the same reason. For example, I recently sold a Martin D41 ...

Re: Always worth walking in that pawn shop
Congratulations. That's gorgeous guitar. It is also a reminder that pawn shops today ask far higher prices (sometimes more than new) for things we used to get at a steal. The key is to stay on the scent and haggle them down as far as it takes to make you know you're getting a great deal.

Re: Bill collings label signature
My understanding is that Bill personally signed all the labels. It wasn’t something special. Though now that he’s gone it’s special to me that my Collings has his sig. My understanding, like the OP, and evidenced from my guitars, is that Bill only signed guitars he had a substantial involvement in ...

Re: Knocked out - my new Collings SJ Indian
Congratulations. While I doubt the D-18 lacked anything, the SJ is a completely different animal. I have admired the tone from an SJ Indian but haven't seen any available in the wild for purchase. Maybe someday.........

Re: storage for flatpicks and fingerpicks
Plenty of "tins" at the store with mints and other things (as stated). Also plastic travel soap holders.
