Re: 1993 Collings Staff featured by Gryphon newsletter
Wow! Thanks for this post and picture. I just moved to my closet and lifted out my 1993 D2H #889 and thought, "These were the guys who built my guitar." Great memory, and I do like the Taylor T-shirt. I think Bill Collings and Bob Taylor have done more than any others in the past thirty ye...

Re: Except for my Collings instruments....
In addition to a’93 D2H, a ‘03 SJ, and an MT2, I play a Goodall Grand Concert, a Ken Miller Koa 000, a Rockbridge SJ, and like Silly Moustache an Eastman AR 905. Some others as well, but these are my go-to guitars.

Re: Kluson tuners fitted in 1990 to CW-28 inquiry
Just had a local luthier install new Gotoh Kluson style tuners on my 1993 D2H. They fit perfectly. Get them at StewMac. Jeff

Value of a 1996 D1A
I posted this to the wrong section, so my apologies. I am not playing my dreadnoughts anymore. I am thinking of selling a 1996 D1A, no tongue brace, through saddle, no inlay, 1 and 23/32 nut, has some dings but great sound, an early Collings. With all the different iterations of guitars these days a...

Value of a 1996 D1A
I am not playing D sized guitars anymore and am thinking of selling a 1996 D1A, no tongue brace, through saddle, 1 and 23/32 nut, excellent shape but with some dings. It also has a stereo set up with K&K and a crown mike. I have no idea what the selling value, given the plethora of new guitars, ...

Re: Lifting Bridge...
My 1993 D-2H has a slight lifting on the bridge. I can get a piece of paper under part of it. It doesn't seem to change, so I left it alone, Unless it is growing, I would suggest leaving it alone.

Re: Favorite Collings tonewood combo
I guess there are signature tonewood combos. For my Collings guitars I prefer sitka with rosewood on my D-2H, adirondack with mahogany on my D1A, and on my SJ i have sitka with maple. I like these combinations.

Re: Torrified Guitar Tops
I have never played one, although I have owned five Collings guitars, still have three of them going back to 1993. My opinion is that the tops look gimmicky. I wouldn't want one. Rather wait and watch a top break in over the years
