Re: Trade My D1A Varnish For An OM1ATrad?
Wow! That was fast! 😅 Keep us posted on your new OM1A-T when it arrives. You will definitely note the more balanced profile of the sound it produces. As for the form factor. My dread now feels huge to me since I started mostly playing my OM a year and a half ago. I’m not saying I’ll never go back, b...

Re: Trade My D1A Varnish For An OM1ATrad?
This may be less helpful than the last response, but I’d I’m reading your post correctly, your concern here is with keeping up with the band without the size of the dread. Am I right? If so, take this for what it’s worth because I only have a “regular” OM1-T, with Sitka, but here goes: the clarity a...

Re: Good amp for Collings City Limits?
The Katana may get you where you want to go, but there are many ways of accomplishing the tone in the clip you provided with the budget you listed. Trying to go for their sound by using the gear they use (Marshall JCM800s, Dr Z amps, Matchless amps) would be both stupid loud and stupidly expensive f...

Re: TKL case lining question
TKL has answered neither my voicemail nor my email, so I’ll reach out to Collings tomorrow. This is a the same case whose handle started falling apart the first time I took it out of the house, so I’m pretty unimpressed. Maybe this was just a bad batch?

TKL case lining question
Hello all, I tend to store my OM1 on a wall hanger in a humidity controlled room in my house and have only had about 5 occasions to take the guitar out of the house in its TKL case since I bought it back in November of 2020. This morning, I went to put my guitar in its case so that I could take it o...

Re: Kluson tuners fitted in 1990 to CW-28 inquiry
After review of photos on David's site (thanks David) It appears the Gotoh brand of tuners were originally fitted... same apparent footprint as Kluson Deluxe. I wonder if they were any good? Have no fear! Gotoh makes a really nice tuner. I put some on my old (1968) when its tuners gave up the ghost...

Re: Why are so many baked and traditional guitars up for sale?
Are we talking about new instrument? Also, “the majority of acoustic guitars being sold” where? On Reverb? In bricks and mortar stores? I’m not sure if this is question about Collings production numbers or the resale of the traditional and/or baked too instruments.

Re: Am I Being Too Picky?
You’re not being too picky. The TKL case that came with my brand new OM1-T last year looked great when it showed up, but the *first* time I took it out of the house to rehearse, but the handle started coming apart. I reached out to Mark at Collings and he reached out to TKL and they sent me a new ha...

Re: New Collings OM1 Traditional Satin Finish
Congratulations on your OM1-T! I picked up one last November and am delighted every time I pick it up and play it. I kind of like the simple appointments and the fact that it doesn’t scream “I’m a boutique instrument!” :D The sounds it makes and the way it brings the best out of me are so satisfying...
