Re: Always worth walking in that pawn shop
Congrats on a great purchase. I bought a used D3 from 1998 to complement my 2000 OM3HG. You are gonna bond with that guitar, especially in light of the story. What an opportunity!

Re: OM2H deep body - any fans?
As a purest, I think the deep body OM defeats some of the characteristics of the OM. I have an OM3HG and a D3. The OM has an 'immediacy' and is perfect for finger-style and hybrid (pick and fingers), the latter being my style. My OM still has PLENTY of bass, especially after a couple of years of pla...

Re: OM and the 1 11/16 nut width?
I have an OM3HG with 1 3/4" nut and a D3 with 1 11/16" nut. I switch back and forth with no problem. If I'm going to finger/hybrid pick, it's always the OM. For some reason the D3 doesn't feel a lot smaller, which probably has to do with the D3 neck's profile. Both are very comfortable to ...

Re: Any other 12 fret freaks out there?
law, 12 frets, not 12 string.
Silly, my only 12 fret is my 1934 National Style O. All my 'wooden' guitars are 14 fret, which is mandatory for the kind and style of music I play.

Re: Has anyone split strings?
I often use John Pearse's Bluegrass PB, which are light top and medium bottom. (.012, .016, .024, .035, .045, .056) on my OM3HG. Perfect.

Re: James Taylor's tuning method
I have a cheap Cleartune app on my iphone that makes it very easy to nail the cents deviations. I haven't played with others who tune 'normal', but I know some Peterson tuners temper some strings by flattening them in some tuning modes. My buddy asked why JT didn't start at ZERO and I surmised that ...

Re: Bridge Pin Question
Indigo, I have an OM3HG from 2000 that has serious play and gig time on it. I bought it used (from MandoBros) when it was about a year old. Seemed unplayed. I played it regularly in an acoustic duo and band. After about 9 months the bass took a noticeable and sudden increase. This was noticed by two...
