When Did Collings Stop Shipping With Custom Cases?
Hi, I'm looking at a used 2019 D2HT. It's being sold as "all original" as bought brand new but has a TKL case not a Collings case. Price is a little steep without the Collings case IMO so curious if it was swapped out. I have the serial number but since not mine yet will refrain from posti...

Set Up Advice Please
Hi, 2018 Collings D1A Relief .014” at 5th fret 1st and 15th fretted (Collings specs .005") Action at 12th fret Treble 5/64” (Collings spec 2/32 or 4/64) Bass <7/64” (Collings spec 3/32" or 6/64) That relief calls for a truss rod tweak. I've done this on other guitars with no problem but wo...

Neck Reset
Hi, My 2013 untouched D1A 's action is a little high. Most likely adjust by reducing saddle height. Saddle is 4mm tall on D string and action on 12th fret low E is between 2.5mm and 3mm. Let's call it 2.75mm. I also noticed that a straight edge on top of frets lands ~1.5mm below the bridge whereas I...

Re: Reasonable Price 2019 D2AH?
Hi, I’m looking at my first Collings purchase and I’ve been offered a 2019 D2AH. It’s in really beautiful condition as well as the case. I’m having trouble finding recent sales to determine a good price. Thanks for any help. Seller market now... I was seeing a dozen D1A's on Reverb for ~$3000 last ...

Re: Collings Case Vs. Calton
Hello Trav, I have both Calton and Collings-made cases and only travel with my Calton—just don’t want to risk guitar damage due to rapid temperature or humidity changes. And, I absolutely love the Collings cases for their beautiful design and perfectly executed construction—don’t want them to suffe...

Re: Collings Case Vs. Calton
Thanks everyone! Heavy is a downer. Aside from my D1A being always stored it's constantly moved around in its Collings case. My RV, 25' Airstream, has limited safe spaces and my back is so worked any over stretching at all can tweak it worse. I was OK with a TKL but that beast was so heavy compared....

Re: Buying 1st Collings Assistance
I wouldn't have such concerns about baked-top Collings guitars. If one doesn't tend to take care of one's guitar related to proper humidification, then any top will likely run into cracking problems sooner or later. But, also, I'm absolutely confident that Collings has done a massive amount of rece...

Collings Case Vs. Calton
Hi, I have a Collings case, not a TKL but the Collings made traditional case for a dreadnought. LOVE IT! BUT....I'm a full time RV'er in the southwest and struggle with managing humidity or lack there of as the case may be. Questions: Does a Calton offer better seal and RH management? How do they co...

Re: Effect of picks on sound.
Yes it's very odd how picks can make a huge tone difference! I tried recently with Blue Chips, Wegens, PrimeTones, Fender, Tortex and probably a couple others. All same thickness and relative stiffness but vary wildly in tone! I'd have thought similar stiffness would sound the same. I have several t...

Lifting Bridge...
Hi, I just noticed a very slight gap on the back of the bridge on my ~2018 D1A. The thickest I could get under it was with some paper that measures ~.006" thick. It went under ~1/8". I can't figure out how to add photos. Humidity has been steady 40-50% and it's been cased more than played ...
