Same model- different woods

Hi, I have come round to thinking about a new guitar ( ok it happens quite a lot). I have 15 year old 0002h that I love and I have come to realise that I love the 12 fret 000 best of all. My question is: does it make sense to have the same style of guitar in different woods? I have always been inter...

Re: Deep Body OM opinions wanted

I play a 0002h as my main guitar. The nut is 1 13/16 rather than 1 7/8 ( I think that’s the standard- not sure if Collings does a 1 7/8). When I got it I found it very quick to adjust to. I didn’t need to change my technique at all, but I did find that my playing was very quickly more accurate with ...

Re: You can only have two.

My number 1 is 0002h which fulfils all my finger style needs. It’s balanced, deep and clear- perfect for what I do. The second is much more difficult; I might chose my electric as it gives me something really different. I’m finding two harder than one!

Re: CJKA - Lacking Tone

I’ve never owned a koa guitar so can’t comment on the tone. I had a similar experience with my first high end guitar though. I bought a guitar by a very well respected UK company. It was beautifully made and played very well but I just couldn’t bond with the tone. I kept hoping it would ‘open up’ bu...

Re: Collings coffee mugs

I am hoping for a traditional line or maybe a Julian Lage signature mug.

And another… bit of finger style on this one.

Mind you if you want one, you’ll need to move at speed. 24 is a really small number- not sure I’ve ever come across such a limited run.

Action change

My 0002h is 13 years old and during that time has had very consistent action- no adjustment needed. Last week I changed strings and it suddenly feels higher. I haven’t changed strings or moved it too a different room, it just seems to have changed. I am a bit perturbed by this and not sure what to d...

Re: 0002H T limited run?

First video on YouTube. Bit of a tease as it’s mostly talking about the guitar, some playing at the end though.

A very nice looking guitar

Re: 0002H T limited run?

I was recently musing on this forum about the missing traditionals and particularly the 12 fret 000. I was anticipating a massive GAS attack should one ever arrive. This new custom looks fantastic and I’m sure will be a wonderful guitar but I am relieved to say it’s not for me. In my opinion the mag...
