Re: Buying 1st Collings Assistance
jklotz, Back in the day Collings did make some cedar topped guitars in the early 2000s. If i remember correctly, there were apparently some issues with bridge adhesion & Bill decided not to build any more cedar topped models.

Re: Am I Being Too Picky?
Jklotz..... that is exactly why Bill started building cases. The misaligned lids have been a TKL issue for years. Both Mark Althans & I had TKL 0 sizes cases with the problem. Frank, I haven't seen a TKL case without the flat bar latches or with brass fittings for years. I'd talk with your deale...

Re: Collings Gathering Virtual Event
Paying tribute to Norman is a great idea. Norman was such a lover of Guy Clark songs...maybe we could incorporate a Guy Clark song pull when we get together in Austin the next time?

Re: The Missing Traditionals
Bluesandswing, you make some good points. I wouldn't characterize Vince Gill as a 0000 player....even though he's used them. The man has an enviable collection of fine vintage instruments. You're right about the traditional being a build style. Collings is still a small outfit, and during Covid they...

Re: The Missing Traditionals
jwillis, As you say, we'll never see a 0000 round out the traditional line. I agree.... because the 4x 0 is is a modern guitar and not a traditional one. Martin never had a 0000 until 1977 when they introduced the M-38. Matt Umanov converted an archtop into a 0000 in 1967 for David Bromberg. For som...

Re: The Missing Traditionals
Good question Slowlearner & a hard one to answer. I waited 20 yrs for a 14 fret 00.... & by the time it had come around i had bought a vintage one. The 000 is a great guitar. I had an 0001G. Killer good.... & the perfect iteration for the thin finish T treatment. Like you, i can only ass...

Re: New Collings OM1 Traditional Satin Finish
JW, Congratulations on a great new guitar. The 'traditional' is definitely another development from Collings. Jim Baggett (of Mass St Music and a close friend of Bills) had long discussed with Bill the idea of making a guitar that would appeal to those who were accustomed to the vintage guitar tone ...

Re: New Collings OM1 Traditional Satin Finish
The JL is available with the same 1 3/4" nut width neck as the T. Julian has one of each.

Re: Collings Made Case Information *UPDATE*
I had a trad case for my '96 CW and it was so elegant, like an Italian suit for the guitar. Of course it could never leave the house! Gem, like the italian suit (BTW a great analogy)....the case doesn't serve it's purpose very well staying in the cupboard. I also concur with TravH. I heard it from ...

BAR, if it was Collings and not a '30s M** guitar..... i'd choose the JL every time.....but you already knew that
