Re: 1st Look @ My Collings I30LC

Nice optical illusion! Without the hardware it took a moment to realize that Collings was not starting to put their name on the back of the headstock. lol

Looks like a nice build.

Re: ‘Builder’s Choice’

I have not seen anything official but I think what you are seeing is a changing of the guards. With Bill and Bruce no longer there, there is a new team selecting the wood and giving their own version of the voicing. You can read more about it here: https://acousticguitar.com/steve-nall-steps-into-a-...

Re: Bridges

Nice to hear from you too Stuart. I miss our chats. Englemann is an outstanding wood for the smaller body guitars. Too many people chase adi or now the baked woods but Englmann is so responsive and warm. I am surprised it is so overlooked. I have a classical guitar with such a top. It is killer. Enj...

Re: Bridges

Hi Stuart! I had hoped that others would answer but I guess I will give my one dollar's worth (used to be 2 cents). It is usually thought that pyramid bridges give better response especially for finger style. Sometimes they may or may not have as much headroom as a belly bridge. Also missing is what...

Re: Same model- different woods

Going to Adi/Mahogany you would certainly sense more headroom and note separation especially in the lower and mids. Is is enough of a change to justify it. I think so if you love your other guitar so much. The differences though are not going to be as much as going to another builder. That might be ...

Re: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLLINGS, AND WHY?

You both look good in the shop PTO! There are a few. I like the OM1 JL because of its pure sparkle. It keeps you honest with your playing with the individual note separation and clarity. All of the D-2 series are all winners too. Great guitars. The CJ series including the 45 is very balanced and has...

Re: Collings Missed At NAMM

Interesting. I guess that leaves staffing, setup, and/or the cost.

Anybody have more insight into Collings decision?

Re: Collings Missed At NAMM

They are certainly a booth to look forward to. Having seen some of these builders from the inside tells a bigger story. People like Martin mostly just grab a guitar off the production line and bring it to the show. Done deal. Custom builders go through a much more laborious process to get the instru...

Re: NGD PRS DGT

Envy runs high with some of us here on the site. Many fine instruments. I sometimes find myself struggling here with GAS. lol

I like things that are a little different. The green is cool! Enjoy it!
