Re: truss rod adjustment
You bet Dan. I'd just gone through all of this about a year ago. People act like adjusting the truss rod is rocket science, but it's really pretty simple.........as long as you don't get carried away. I think the danger is in going too far with that adjustment. I liked Collings' technique for tweaki...

Re: truss rod adjustment
I've followed these (Collings directions) to a tee on a few occasions. The fact is though that it should be the last thing you do to lower action. I see "relief" and "action" as two different things, both of which result in elevated string height from the fret board. Action shoul...

Re: No More Collings Cases?
I've got all the respect in the world for Collings, and love their traditional cases. In fact, I got one with my D18 D2HA. So given my love for Collings, here's my question. Traditional Collings cases ran, or run around $1200. The TKL case I JUST received my new D1A in is about a $250 TKL.........co...

I've also been told that the bushings are glued in, and to remove them, you have to heat them to soften the glue. I'm beginning to think she'll look just fine with silver bushings. : )

Re: Strings on CJ35
Always open to something new. Lately I've tried Martin strings, GHS, D'Addadio....a few sets of different types, but I always keep coming back to John Pearse strings. I like JP 80/20s and Silk and Steel.

Re: Tuner Change
Thanks John, and yes sir, I'm taking all of those things into account. I'm confident I can get them out, just not confident I can do it without a lacquer chip. We may see what a Collings looks like with engraved gold tuners and nickel bushings.

Re: Tuner Change
Nevermind. I think I've just figured it out. What I'm calling a "nut" is not actually a nut, it is the hex head top of a pressed in bushing. And I suppose they'd also have to be pressed out? Hmmmmm, I wonder how gold Waverlys would look with silver bushings?

Tuner Change
Hello Collings nuts, First post here, though I've been lurking for a while.....just learning. I was curious as to whether any of you have ever changed the Waverly open back tuners on any of your Collings guitars? I've replaced tuners a few times on other guitars, but they were always Grover tuners a...
