Re: Collings 01A/Assisted Living Music

I just watched your video Maple, and you brought back some very dear memories. I started playing an assisted living center when we admitted my mother, talked into playing by the activity director there. My first outing there, was introduced to an 80 year old man who was not a resident, but who visit...

Re: Action change

A couple of things Slowlearner, I think you mentioned that you've noticed a rise in action after installing new strings. Though you used the same strings, say EJ17's or whatever, did you install the same gauge strings that were previously on the guitar? Heavier gauge strings can and will raise the a...

Re: Elliot Capo

And for those of us who think Elliott capos are outrageously expensive. Price the G7th cradle capo.

I set all of mine up with very low action. Funny thing is that I've just gotten my new D1A, and the action on it is perfect straight from Collings. I have lowered the action of both my D2HA and my CJ G. Set 'em up they way you like them.

Re: Strings on CJ35

I do, and they'll work nicely. Having said that, I have also found another string I really like. I've never been a fan of coated strings, as to me, they muted the guitar. About 6 months ago I picked up a pack of D'Addario XT strings and fell in love. I actually now have them on both my D2HA and my D...

Re: truss rod adjustment

If you can get the saddle flat on the bottom, without taking too much off, you'll do just fine. Just take it slow and keep the saddle square. I sand mine on a granite counter top that's flat as a pancake.

Re: Why does my OM1 E SS look different than others ?

It's the same with D's. The D2 has the volute, but the D1 does not.

Re: truss rod adjustment

<t>So then to recap Dan, you'll take a capo and capo the 1st fret, then you'll finger the 15th fret. Once there, take an accurate measurement with a good feeler gauge between the 5th fret and the bottom of the low E string. That measurement should be .005". if you're high there, as I was, it general...

Re: 2022 Collings Prices?

In the market for a D1 and looking at the used store prices, it is pretty high. I might as well buy new from the look of things. It's what I did. I couldn't find EXACTLY what I wanted anywhere, and given the prices of used Collings guitars, it made sense to me to just order a new one and get just w...

Re: Elliot Capo

I bought my Elliott in January from The North American Guitar in Nashville. Kim is also the lady I ordered my D1A through. A previous poster had mentioned that his wife bought him an Elliott for his birthday, mine was a belated Christmas gift from my lovely wife. My Elliott is an "Elite" a...
