Re: Flatpickers and small bodies
Hey all, I wanted to revisit this thread from a while back. I am mostly playing my OM1AT these days and the D1AT mostly goes unplayed. I am thinking of adding another smaller bodied guitar but it needs to have a thinner neck up around the 8-12th frets for playing jazz chords up the neck. I have deve...

Re: WTB: OM1 or OM1A Traditional
I just sent an outstanding 2020/2021 OM1AT to TME for consignment. We are buying a house and moving so we needed the cash. I will probably regret it!

Flatpickers and small bodies
Hey all, I remember there was a good bit of discussion on the old forum about players who flatpick on a smaller bodied guitar. I think there was a mention of Mark Althans using a Waterloo for gypsy jazz if memory serves. I just wanted to see if folks have found smaller bodies to be satisfying in a a...

Re: Thoughts on the OM1T
Waterbound, I am on my 3rd OM1T and my 4th Collings OM1. I have had a OM1A (2014) that I loved and kind of regret selling. I had an OM1AJL that I never bonded with, maybe it was just to dry, but the tone never did it for me. I had an OM1T which was outstanding new but got soft and mushy over the nex...

Re: posture and seating
Thanks for the responses! I have been sitting with my legs crossed and am going have to unlearn that I think. I have moved to a an armless wooden chair and have been thinking about tension a lot. Just working on being as tension free as possible has dramatically improved my playing! Does anyone use ...

posture and seating
All, I am wondering what folks sit on while they are practicing (couch? Special chair?) and flatpickers in particular. Are there things about your posture or position that you focus on? I am practicing more due to Covid and am feeling some forearm soreness/tightness and am trying to improve my pract...

Re: Waterloo for 20's and 30's swing
Thank for the thoughts you guys. I keep coming across "ladder braced" in a lot of my searches. I guess the old Nick Lucas guitars were ladder braced as well? I am wondering if a WL-14L might be a good fit with its bigger box dimensions and ladder bracing.

Re: Waterloo for 20's and 30's swing
Thanks Cameleye! Do you play chords, chord melody, leads, etc? How do chords feel up around the 9th-12th fret? Do you miss the few extra frets? I have never owned a 12 fret but have been curious.
Thanks!

Waterloo for 20's and 30's swing
Hey all,
Could anyone recommend a Waterloo model for 1920's and 1930's jazz (including manouche styles). I remember hearing that Mark Althans was using a Waterloo for some gypsy jazz stuff. Also, do folks have opinions on the normal versus thinner neck options?
Thanks!
