Re: CJ 45
I'm on my 2nd set of the new D'Ad SX 13-56 on my played-in 2008 CJmhA. The nano coating is really special... clear tone plus moving up/down the fretboard with a min of squeak is a real winner for me. I had sworn off coated strings long ago, but.. give them a few days to calm down and 4-5mos later yo...

Re: Darkening of baked tops
I'm wondering if a sunburst limits the darkening and also the torrification process? My luthier built small jumbo is torrified carpathian spruce with a sunburst, it's almost 3yrs old and no change is what I see. My other two 'non-torrified' sunburst guitars, 2008 Collings CJmhA and 2001 Santa Cruz V...

Re: Buying 1st Collings Assistance
Welcome to the forum. Collings red spruce guitars are special but also are their German spruce models. Grandpa syndrome and a shoulder problem forced me off the dreads a few years ago. Currently own a short scale red spruce CJ. I've prev owned a D1A, D2H.... but by far my fav dread was a D2HG (germa...

Re: Strings
Since this thread started, back when.... I've changed from D'Ad EJ24s to the new 'nano coated' D'Ad XS 13-56 on my CJmhA.
First set lasted 4mos, just put on a new set last week. I tend to slide on the strings a lot and the nano coating makes for a much better result with no letdown in tone. bert

Re: Collings Julian Lage OM
Nobody has mentioned a couple of string sets that come to mind. My CJmhA has always been fussy about harmonics. I just replaced the D A'dd NBs with a set of SCGC Mid tension (think medium gauge) a few weeks ago. Bingo ! Never sounded so excellent. Their 'Low' tension set is on my SCGC VJ, just great...

markT, how sweet it is, congratulations. My 2008 CJ is just too good to think about the CJ45, but that's ok. best wishes, bert

Re: Direct comparison between standard ad "T" models?
Thanks Frank for the harmonics review of the T model vs the standard. I always tune to the harmonics and your post gives me a good feel for why my 2008 Collings CJmhA is so special. It took a few years for the red spruce to calm down (as Tempotantrum said) and as normal for the stiffer woods, my for...
