Re: Why so little discussion on the City Limits models?!

I didn't refer to it as polite because of its clean tones, in fact I typically use a Les Paul type guitar for more edge, so my comment was primarily in reference to its distorted sound. There seems to be a range in the voicing of earlier CLs. Maybe that changed later in their production run as peopl...

Re: Pickup Install on a D2H

Chiming in here to add an enthusiastic vote for the K&K mini w/ vintage jack. I had one and thought it was excellent in every way.

Re: Why so little discussion on the City Limits models?!

I don't understand why people who want Les Pauls don't just buy Les Pauls, especially given Collings's well-earned reputation for their own amazing sound, regardless of instrument/instrument style. Horses for courses.) As mentioned above, I wanted "the Collings of Les Pauls," which is to ...

Re: Why so little discussion on the City Limits models?!

I’m curious about why people say the CL sounds like a “polite” or “refined” Les Paul That was one of my opinions posted to the old forum. I desperately wanted to like the sound of my CL, because I wanted it to be a Les Paul that played like a Collings, but I couldn't even achieve that. I had an ear...

What were you hoping to learn about the CL? This forum is still young so there's not much in the way of general info, but if there are pointed questions I'm sure folks will answer.

Re: Any CJ35 owners?

I no longer have my CJ35 but I used Pearse PB New Mediums and thought they were a great compliment to that guitar.

Sounds great (as usual), and I like the color spectrum against the back wall!

Re: Ken Burns "Country Music" on PBS

I caught a bit last night. Fascinating! I had to pause for some family stuff but couldn't wait to get back to it. I'm equally excited to see more. Ken Burns scores again.

Re: Medium Gauge Strings

Hopefully not hijacking your thread too much because it's semi related.... I string my CJ 35 with mediums (13-56) and tune it a whole step low (DGCFAD) Most guitars Ive tried it with get sloppy and buzzy... This CJ 35 sounds INCREDIBLE with it tuned that way.... welcome any thoughts or response I'l...

Dudenbostel owners out there?

Dudenbostels are among the best guitars and mandolins you can get anywhere, regardless of price, and Lynn just seems to gain knowledge and experience as the years go by. Although I've not played a current specimen, I suspect that they're at the apex of what he's produced throughout his career. On th...
