Re: Elliot Capo
Actually Frank, you can't see differences in quality, only differences in design. both Elliott and Shubb are more or less industry standards in use by pros and amateurs alike. G7 is the new kid on the block. As well there is big difference between manufacture in a small shop in Texas (Elliott) and p...

Re: fret wear
You're right that stainless frets will affect the tone. Lots of mandolin & guitar builders use EVO frets & they (in my experience as well) affect the tone. Bill C refused to use stainless. BTW it's downward pressure on the frets that causes wear..... fret width doesn't really have an effect,...

Re: fret wear
Fret wear varies a lot depending on your grip, how you capo et cetera. It really depends what you consider substantial wear. Any big dents or divots? 9 months is a pretty short time to put that much wear on. Collings uses proprietary fretwire (tang size will fit the slots perfectly. I have bought fr...

Re: Waverly tuner alternatives for OM1?
If your Waverly's are tight or some of them are....contact StewMac. They've either replaced or reworked tuners for me in the past.

Re: Collings C-100 help. I'm confused.
Congratulations on the C100, I can see why the confusion. The ad copy for the C100 on the Collings website describes the guitar as having "parlor style proportions." ....what ever that means. If you look at specifications, neither the C100 nor the C10 are remotely close to parlor guitars. ...

Re: No More Collings Cases?
It is tough to stay in business. In answer to WR Lee, no Collings did not drop their prices. But I'm sure you've noticed the huge inflation in the last year especially. Crazy prices on cars, gas, vintage guitars.

Re: whats highest grade at collings?
Collings no longer builds Brazilian guitars. In the 90s they were graded a,aa,aaa, b etc.... by early 2000 they stopped using the grading system. And it is true...a "b" guitar from '90 may have nicer looking wood than a "aa" from 2000.

Re: C-100
I have trouble thinking of a more balanced and yet articulate guitar than a D-18. Collings D1A and old Martin 18s have been my choice. Having said that, I can't think of any Collings I've played or heard that wasn't articulate. One of my favourite flatpicking guitars was a Collings 0001G. If the pr...

Re: Elliot Capo
Silly, Many retailers sell Elliott capos. I'm sure Myhre's music in Edmonton Canada, or 'The North American Guitar', Gryphon, or Mass St Music would sell & ship you one.

Re: Collings OM1AJL - 1 3/4"
How do you like the larger neck size? Have you ever played the standard neck? I do like the larger neck, but also liked the 11/16" version too; I've owned both. To me, the 1 3/4" feels like the regular traditional neck . .....that's exactly what it is. The JL in whatever configuration is ...
