Re: TKL case lining question

TKL has answered neither my voicemail nor my email, so I’ll reach out to Collings tomorrow. This is a the same case whose handle started falling apart the first time I took it out of the house, so I’m pretty unimpressed. Maybe this was just a bad batch? TKL has had inconsistent quality control for ...

Re: TKL case lining question

I recall a period of time where this hardening of the case padding occurred with TKL cases. I'd contact both Collings & TKL.

Re: Elliot Capo

Congratulations! As mentioned, Call Melisa (yes, 1 L, 1, S).... I've used Elliott's various models on Collings and old Martins. A typical Elliott of any model will work well on a Collings neck.....so 1 3/4" will work perfectly on your D1T. The company has made me 1 3/4", 1 13/16", 1 7...

Re: will a handmade D style collings case work for an OM collings withoiut problems?

PWE yes you could pad up a D case to fit an OM....... but the true OM Bill case is markedly smaller & sleeker. I had both at one time.... if you're driving an OM....keep your eye open for one....they're very nice. BTW....are you the same PWE who used to attend the Collings Gathering events in Dr...

Re: anybody use J75's?

A5, I've used both. 74, 75 and other brands. I came from a varnish Weber Yellowstone that needed 75s to drive it. When i went to the Collings MT and later a Heiden and Ellis, 74s sounded better, without choking the top. On the Heiden in particular, Michael H told me that he voices his instruments fo...

Re: Pros playing Collings

I’m looking for more artists to listen to; who is playing Collings mandolins? Doesn’t have to just be bluegrass. Go to Collings’ website where they list lots of pros playing their instruments. And of course, that’s just for starters!!! Red Oak, I'll mention Sarah Jarosz & Kym Warner..... Since ...

Re: WL14 belly bulge

Carlos, in reality most guitars develop a bit of a belly. They're only called "flat tops." It happens whether they're ladder or x-braced. It's hard to tell if & how much it will continue to change. Like the guitars they're modelled after, Waterloos are lightly built and that's why they...

Re: Neck Reset

It's worth mentioning that the fretboard extension on the Collings is glued to the top, like other guitars. A neck reset is not really a DIY project. Bryan Kimsey, who has owned an early CW, and done lots of neck resets on Martins had this to say in answer to the question about whether re-sets are e...

Re: Collings Joe Henry

Hi, I've just watched the Mark Stutman video and seen/heard Mark Althans playing one. Right now -still no performing, my dreads are hiding from me, and my most loved/used 2003 0002h standard specs. ...... I wasn't aware that Collings would make such a non standard guitar, but I'm sure lots of thing...

Re: Baked Vs Regular Sitka?

I honestly have a hard time deciding. I had a Pre-War Guitar Co 000-18 with a torrified top that rode the middle ground.....fundamental tone, but not not super dry. At the same time I had an OM1aJL which gave more fundamental and dry tone. If I were to order a new guitar from Collings, I would likel...
