Re: Any other 12 fret freaks out there?
I wonder whether any of y'all have played one of those 0000-sized Martin 12-fretters. Gruhn's has a bunch of them made out of sinker mahogany that are pleasing to the eye, complete with a lovely slot-head. (I know it's not a Collings, but I love a Martin too.) Re: Watch your humidity levels
Several years ago I had to travel for business, and while I was gone the temperatures dropped considerably, causing the heater to run continuously in the little garage apartment were I had a Collings 0001A and an 0002 hanging from side-by-side wall hangers. I live in Houston where I usually worry ab...

Re: Any other 12 fret freaks out there?
I guess I qualify. Right now my stable includes three 12-fretters: a Collings 0001A and a Martin 000-15S, both of which I've owned for more than a decade, and a Martin "D-12" (basically a custom shop D-28 with a mix of GE and Authentic appointments) that I bought about a year ago. I've bee...

Re: Collings through the years and your preferences
My first Collings was a CW that I bought around 2005. It was an absolute howitzer with beautiful overtones, but it was too much guitar for its usual mission of sitting around the house picking fiddle tunes. I found I just didn't play it that much. Currently I've got a D1 and a 0001A, both of which a...

Re: Mandolin roll call -- who's got 'em and whatcha got?
I don't currently have a Collings mando, but I made a big mistake in selling an MT I owned back in the 'aughts to fund a custom from a small builder. It was as good tonally as any mandolin I've ever owned, and considerably better than the custom that replaced it. Currently I've got a Pava and an old...

Collings DS1
If I could find a nice Collings DS1 in the Houston area, I'd be sorely tempted.

Re: FORUM INTRODUCTIONS
Howdy folks - I'm Joe. I was on the old forum, but didn't post very often and can't remember what my username was. (HoustonPicker? maybe?) Anyhow, I'm a huge Collings fan, and have owned several over the years. Currently I've got a wonderful D1 and a 0001A in the stable. Both are lifetime keeper gui...
