Re: Same body, different woods?

I guess this satisfies the question asked. I bought these Collings OM2 guitars new in 2013. Adi/Higuerilla OM2 on left - Mahogany/Mahogany OM2 on right.

Re: Change in Adhesive on T Models

I agree. I’ve owned many Collings and none have had hide or animal protein glue, and they have all been spectacular. I take whatever the builder feels most comfortable with. I own 11 guitars and only 2 have hide glue.

Re: Change in Adhesive on T Models

They didn’t. I didn’t ask if buyers can still custom order with protein glue, but I’m guessing it might be possible.

Change in Adhesive on T Models

I reached out to Mark at Collings and asked him about the adhesive being used. He said : Hi Paul, Thanks for reaching out about this. Yes its true - we have discontinued using animal protein glue across the board on our Traditional series. Our head luthier conducted a few experiments, and concluded ...

Re: Collings Traditionals vs Hide Glue?

Looking back at Gryphon’s web site and considering the highlighted claim, this seems like it is either a major departure by Collings, or misstatement of apparent significance on the web page. It would be nice to know more.

Re: Direct comparison between standard ad "T" models?

Great information here. Thanks Frank and Jack. As a longtime Collings fan I’ve owned quite a few different models over the years. I’ve never been able to enjoy T models as much as my Standard models. I’ve always thought the Standards had a deeper base and more full & harmonic mids, with fat treb...

Re: What’s your earliest Collings?

My oldest Collings isn’t very old. I purchased this all mahogany OM2 new 7 years ago. It’s fantastic. A great mix of Collings clarity with added depth & warmth.
