Re: Torrified Guitar Tops

Just picked up a used C10 ss with torrefied adirondack top and torrefied maple back and sides and can’t put it down. I wasn’t sure about torrefication until now. Incredible tone coming out of it, and it also looks amazing. Have been curious for a while about the baked maple back and sides. If you'v...

Re: No More Collings Cases?

Hello! New member here with a relevant anecdotal experience. I just recently purchased a new 2020 OM2H (completed in November) from a Collings dealer and it came in a Collings branded TKL case. Since this was a dream guitar, I was on the fence about buying a Collings-made case to complete the packa...

Re: No More Collings Cases?

Collings still come, as before the "handmade"" cases, in TKL cases. The puzzle is why the Collings cases are still featured prominently on the website. According to the site, you can still purchase an OM case, while all the others are listed as "sold out." I have no idea whe...

Re: Favorite Collings tonewood combo

Don't have any sitka Collings. Topwoods are either adirondack or german. Backs and sides are the standard three: mahogany, rosewood and maple. Love the mahogany/adi on my OM1 and D1AT as much as the mahogany/German on the CJ35 or the rosewood/German on the OM2. Ordered German top for my SJ on a whim...

Re: C10-35 Thoughts

I have a C10-35 with a German spruce top. Definitely my favorite guitar. I'm continually astounded by the amazing tone and feel of it everytime I play it. Can't recommend it enough for fingerstyle or any other style you might throw at it. Here's an example of what mine sounds like: https://youtu.be...

Re: Thoughts on the OM1T

<t>The standard OMs and the Traditionals do sound different. I have two standard OMs and I strongly prefer them to two OMTs I've had a chance to play. I also often prefer the new standard OMs, though by not nearly as much. Many, if not most, prefer the Ts. I can't speak to what happens to the Ts ove...

Re: New Collings SJ

Soups--I've had my SJG now for five months. This was a custom order, and It was a long wait even before the pandemic closed up Collings. Yours will be nicely broken in. It's taken a while for mine to come around. At first the tone was discontinuous: the bass strings had a relatively muted attack com...

Re: A new OM for my wife

Greg,

Thanks for those clips. I hadn't heard them. Julian is of course a monster, as is Chris Eldridge; but the Anthony DeCosta clip is sublime. He's a spectacular, soulful player on both acoustic and electric. Made me think much too seriously about adding a JL OM1A.
