Little bump of this thread - my first post proper, following my intro that I added today.
Have a lovely Eastman E10P: mahogany, sunburst spruce top, ebony board, 12 fret, slothead, 1 13/16" nut, 2 5/16" bridge spacing. A real proper old-style blues box, sounds great, incredible value for money. As I said in my intro post, I'd love to have something similar from Collings but can't afford it and keep my OM2H; also couldn't justify having such a guitar as a lesser-used occasional player.
Any other 12 fret freaks out there?

First post. Just bought an 0001A. It will replace my Bourgeois Martin Simpson 12 fret. Looking forward to joining the Collings family
Re: Any other 12 fret freaks out there?
I might be on my way to becoming a 12-fret freak. I have one -- a 0000-18 Martin sinker mahogany custom from Gruhn's -- and one on the way -- a Collings 003. I also have two 14-fret Martins, a 1992 D-18 Vintage and a Perry Bechtel Special 000-28 made in 2007. The quad-0 sinker sounds amazing. If I had to choose just one to keep, that would be the one. We'll see whether the smaller Collings changes that.
Re: Any other 12 fret freaks out there?
I have one of these and I love it. Tonally, I would say it is as loud as my D-18, or close to it, but with a fuller, richer tone. In terms of comfort, it beats the dread but not my 000-28. The quad-0 is the same depth as the triple-0. The lower bout is actually a tad wider than the dread's, and I think the body might be slightly longer in the 12-fret version, but the waist is narrower, so it sits a little lower on your leg. This guitar sounded great when brand-new, and I expect the Adirondack top to get better with age (it's a year old now). I think it's probably a combination of factors -- the sinker wood, adi top, 0000 size and 12-fret configuration -- but this is a really great sounding and playing guitar, for my tastes.12Frets wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 6:08 pm I wonder whether any of y'all have played one of those 0000-sized Martin 12-fretters. Gruhn's has a bunch of them made out of sinker mahogany that are pleasing to the eye, complete with a lovely slot-head. (I know it's not a Collings, but I love a Martin too.) Here's one:

I think a 000 is about the perfect size, there's something about the fullness of a dread that's hard to compete with. I wonder where a 0000 falls in line, tonally and in terms of comfort and playability. Anyone seen one of these in the wild?
