I think the fact that it’s a 12-fret guitar limits its appeal to most players. Then if it has a 1-13/16” nut, that’s even more limiting. But they’re historical models and I think they’re nice looking guitars, especially with some abalone trim around the top.
! & 13/16" nut width would be exactly what would appeal to me! I have Collings 12 fret dreads, ans a 0002h. I kinda feel thet I should have a 00 to complete the set,

I played one once at an RMMMGA meeting, loved it but I was selling rather than buying. Still thinking about it!

My wife had a custom built 0028 built for me for my 50th birthday, It's a fine guitar but it isn't a Collings!

I was looking for a 12-fret 00 guitar and assumed I would get a Martin, but a like-new Collings 003 became available and I bought it. I'm still getting to know it -- has a different tone and needs a different touch -- but I like it a lot. I'm not referring to the 12-fret tone difference, but the Collings difference. This is my second 12-fret guitar and I am convinced they are harmonically superior.

So, from my point of view, there's no lack of love for them. There's just a lot more people looking for dreads.

Another thing -- the 1 13/16 nut width was a selling point for me, too. Two of my other three guitars have that size neck and it suits my short fat fingers!

Love to try a 00.......But love my little 01 Mh T with the above string spacing. BIG tone out of a small box. I had a Parlor T but it was just not for my style. This one handles strumming and flat picking much better. I'm sure the 00 would be even BIGGER sounding~

I have a Ds2h, a DS1, and a 0002h, and a WL-12. I'd really like a 002h too !

What exactly is the difference between the “0” and “00” body?

Well 0 & 00 are different sizes.. The best comparison is to visit the Collings site & check out the photos & the specs. Collings offers the 0 in both 12 & 14 fret versions, but the 00 only in 12 fret. Both magic....but different kinds of magic. 00 are perhaps my favourite size guitar

Man that’s a beauty! These 00 models really have a big sound for a little box. Fun to play.

I thought i'd make a sonic point. "These 00 models really have a big sound for a little box" (Haasome). Mandolins and small and capable of volume....so are fiddles. There is a common misconception that a dreadnaught is the king of guitars.... but think pick-up truck vs sportscar..... a dreadnaught offers a different timbre than a 00.....but volume is not related to body size. I'll commit Collings sacrilege by posting a video of Bryan Sutton playing a 1935 0-18.

But I said “big sound” not more volume. My experience has been that not all small bodied guitars provide a big full sound. I didn’t mean to misrepresent. I was comparing it to other smaller guitars I’ve played that just don’t pull it off.
