I’m looking for very good polish/wax; what have y’all found to be the best?

Thank you,

For the most part I follow the suggestion of the Collings factory and just use a CLEAN, soft microfiber cloth dampened with distilled water. Your tap water can contain minerals that may remain after the water has evaporated. Many bottled waters contains minerals as well. Distilled water is available at your grocery store for near nothing.

Once a year or so I follow up with Virtuoso Cleaner and Virtuoso Polish. http://virtuosopolish.com/ These products are widely available in better music stores or on line. Following their instructions I use a teenie, tiny amount and use a CLEAN, soft microfiber cloth to remove as much of the cleaner or polish as possible when done.

I capitalized CLEAN twice because it is very important to use only cloths that are free from dust or other residue. A dirty cloth can act like sand paper leaving microscratches that may not be visible but that will dull the finish.

Once a year or so I use a bit of Music Nomad's The Guitar One: otherwise an occasional wipe with a clean cotton t-shirt barely damp with distilled water.

A couple years ago, I stopped using polish altogether.
This came after a chat w/ the folks at Collings and hearing that Bill Collings got irritated by polishes getting into his finishes. I’ve got a varnish Om3 & a satin OMJL, neither finish requires anything other than a damp microfiber cloth.

Clean damp cloth followed by clean dry cloth.

I never use polishes of any kind.

Damp cloth and dry.
When the cleaning gets a little tough, Novus 1.
When needed, Novus 2 followed by Novus 1.
I remember seeing these on a work bench in pics of the Collings factory. But I've been using these for a long time.

Hi, many years ago, I went to an antique furniture exhibition (can't imagine why) and discovered that thos with very valuable pieces used a polish called "Regency Gold" and I bought some for our not antique furniture.
Later I decuded to try it on one of my guitars - my first Collings I think.

I've been using it ever since. It contains no cellulose or nasties, and I use it, after the wipe down with a damp cloth proces and very spairingly, wiping it off with a damp cloth shortly after.

It gives a deep lustrous shine, and smells good too.

Certainly no waxes but after an exuberant play or gig, I'll wipe down with Dunlop 65. A simple spray-and-wipe to make sure no "stickies" remain. You can do the same with water and soft rag.

Dry cloth is usually enough, but if more is needed I only use a soft, damp cloth followed by a soft dry cloth.

Bill was right about polishes. Why clog up the pores of your guitar with polish?
