Played a few of the acoustics yesterday. Of course too much noise to make anything like a genuine evaluation, and couldn't give a sense of the guitars--except for one. Maybe just the nature of maple guitars to cut through the drone, but the fully torrified maple C10, though the action was higher than I play, jumped out as a pretty spectacular guitar.

I’ve been waiting to hear if the mahogany 12-fret there was a Traditional model. I saw it in a picture hanging on the top row, small pickguard, and what appeared to be tortoise bridge pins like a T model. Was it a 00 or 0? The 0-T version already exists and Collings hasn’t announce a new 00-12 fret T yet.

The 12 fret at NAMM was an 00-12T!

Yup. Collings confirmed it by email. They’re on the 2020 price list, but not on the website yet.

Mark told me maybe in the future, but not right now, about a year ago. I guess the future is now! I want to immediately order a D1AT with the satin finish, but I really like the one I already have. I guess I need to just play it 8 hours a day for 40 years.....lol

Or you could get some 600 grit and do some random hippie sanding on your D1AT. ;)

I played one of the very first D1AT Satin guitars last week. Really great guitar, but oddly I am not convinced that it’s better than my 2017 D1AT, just different. I may get one, but not yet sure it’s worth selling my current one simply to upspend. I’m sort of interested in an 00-14T hog top in satin (00-14TMhS) instead.

I was a bit surprised to read some copy from dealers that the satin finish offered something different tonally. Started me wondering if it’s different in some way from the thinner Traditional finish, and if so, how. I had assumed it was simple a cosmetic difference.
