Where do you find good, used Collings guitars?

I have a new name to this forum, having slipped away from guitars for a while. On the previous Collings forum, I used the name "KairosKraft". So some of you may remember me. Or you may have bought a Collings acoustic from me, or I may have bought one from you. This was my favorite site to watch, read, buy and sell. Coming back "home," things seem a bit skimpy in the buy and sell area. Many things have changed in the last five to seven years. Ebay is not the dynasty it was, with Reverb taking over the throne. The usual bigger Collings music houses are out there, of course. And I even visited the pawn shop yesterday for the first time in a very long time (never, ever having seen a Collings in a pawn shop, myself; I was looking for a Warrick Thumb Bass, I was talking to a bass player that found two here in town). So, I miss all the wonderful opportunities to dream about and buy Collings guitars (acoustic for me, really) that the previous forum had, and has not yet returned to its glory here. What happened? Where did everyone go? Why did they not come back?
But mostly I would like this thread to talk about this forum and buying and selling Collings guitars, what happened, how can we make it a wonderful place to shop and imagine with zillions of Collings to think about and look at for sale?

Welcome back, Bob. A lot of the Collings folks are using groups on Facebook dedicated to Collings guitars. I remember the busy days on the old forum too, but seems even it was slowing down before it crashed. The guitar market isn’t what it used to be either. New prices have climbed and used prices seem flat. I don’t know if anyone can sell a used one these days. And with acoustics from Collings numbering more than 30,000 now, they’re more plentiful than they used to be.

Surely used Collings are still being bought and sold. Reverb does seem to be the place. There is a Collings Buy & Sell group on Facebook (it’s a closed group, so you have to join), but there’s not a lot of activity there either. You’re probably aware of all the other usual internet sales sites.

I think Eric summed it up nicely.

I just sold my 2013 D2H in three days on our local CL for $3500.

For sure I live in an area of well-heeled guitar players (Silicon Valley) and I never have a problem selling any gear on my local CL.

This is important because I will not ship a guitar and I deal in cash only.

Keep an eye on your local Craigslist.

Bill

I have not looked at the local CL. The market for used Collings guitars has gone somewhere--it has to be out there. There are folks that want to sell and buy Collings guitars.
UPDATE: I went to CL and looked through the musical instruments section, then searched, "Collings"--nothing. It seems it would be safe to say you have to live in the right areas of the country for CL to be the place to find Collings guitars. I have been looking lots of places and am not finding many choices anywhere.

I just checked CL for Los Angeles and only two guitars are listed (and one isn't really in LA). Either CL isn't a good resource for used Collings or people aren't selling them right now.

There are three on my local CL: CW, UTK-1, and an I-35. There are always a handful of used Collings instruments listed on the Mandolin Cafe classifieds.

If I were in the mood for another Collings the first place I would go is my local Collings dealer. Trade-ins are a great way to get into an already examined, cleaned, new stringed, ready-to-take-home used Collings. From there; Reverb, Craigslist and the Acoustic Guitar Forum. Lots of guitars for sale there.

But, what I am seeing and hearing, there is nothing like what used to exist on the Collings Forum...alas...
