My new 001A 14: amazing, right out of the box. Louder, fuller than I thought. I have had my 01AVNSB for a couple years and struggled with how tight it was to start with. I used a lot of ToneRite on it (weeks). And now, a couple years later, it is opening up and I am glad I have kept it. This 001A 14 is so open right out of the box. This may not mean much, but it feels full and complete, to my ear. I really love my C-10 German, and the 01A is very fine. But this new one is spectacular. So I am very pleased. It is one of the most pleasing new Collings I have bought (there were many others in the past).

Congrats! Did you get a standard or traditional line 001A 14? Just curious anyone else is noticing the changes with the new traditional series neck changes.

Enjoy!

Mine is the standard. I considered the T, but decided to go with standard.

I felt like I was gushing complete optimism about my 001A 14 fret when I first got it. I think that stems from acquiring my 01AVNSB a couples years ago and was disappointed in that "the Adirondack is too stiff" sort of way. I still have the 01AEVSB and it has mellowed nicely, I have grown to enjoy it and it has opened up. This 001A 14 fret that I just acquired was full and rich immediately, so much easier to enjoy immediately. It is possible, as a group, that we (and we are biased, those of us that own Collings guitars) see the Collings acoustics are all very much alike. Well, they are in a number of ways (fit and finish, for example) but, to my ear and in my experience, they vary a bit also in their sound, perhaps in their openness, a bit more noticeable to me when they are new. My new 001A 14 fret convinces me of that. This one is a honey, full and rich, much stronger from the start than my 01AVNSB (and my C-10 GSSSB for that matter). Anyway, I am very pleased with the build and sound of my 001A 14 fret--I have wanted a wonderful 14 fret 00 from Collings for a long time, and now I have one and a great one at that!

How might I go about doing that, showing/playing it and uploading that so you could see and hear it?

Well - the best way is for you to box up that fine instrument and send it to me. Once I receive it, I'll take a look at it and play it.
Then, I'll let you know what I think!! :)

If that's not an option for you, then I'd check with the moderator because I'm not sure how to do it myself. :|

Good Day! I hope you all are well and staying safe at home during these trying times. Psalm 46:10

I was wondering if any of you folks that have the new 001 14-fret model has had a chance to do any more recording or videos.

I'd love to hear more of how it responds to different styles of playing in standard and open/altered tunings.

Have a great day and be safe!
