I've gone to my favourite 80/20 roundcore. They sound great

i still have the factory nickel strings on the guitar. i really like them. i was told by my dealer that some people also like pyramid round core.

i can't imagine any strings sounding bad on this guitar.

yes. the adi top is an upgrade. the julian lage model also has a (1) new neck profile; (2) satin finish; (3) different neck joint.

Can you comment on the different neck joint? Wasn't aware there was a difference. Thanks!

you guys are right! the website lists a OM-1JL and OM-1 as both having the "mortise and tenon hybrid" neck joint. i thought this was different from the "traditional" collings bolt-on neck.

that being said, it's surprising to me how different these guitars sound. i have both models, and they're very different. it must be the finish or the hide glue or both?

if my house was on fire, i'd grab the JL model and go. it's hard to describe the sound difference: drier, richer, warmer, more martin-like. it suits my finger-style playing well. i also like the 1-11/16" neck on it. try one if you can. note: i paid $2500 more for the JL guitar!

one thing i haven't tried is putting the nickel strings on my OM-1. i can't imagine the strings make that much of a difference.
