Favorite Collings tonewood combo

Curious to hear everyone’s favorite tonewood combo for top/sides on a Collings, along with what style(s) of music you like this for.

I’ll go first... I like Adirondack/Mahogany for detailed solo work, both fingerstyle and flatpick. Clear, authoritative and woody, with golden high overtones.

Your turn!

Not to be a wise guy but all of them. Each combo has strengths and a reason for being. It's kind of like cars people say "there is an a** for every seat."

I like your choices! Of course, Collings does fantastic work regardless of the woods being used. I’ve owned maple, mahogany and rosewood versions paired with Sitka /and or Adirondack. All sounded great to me!!

I prefer hog/adi and hog/German for all I do. Love them both.

You've got me wondering. My current interest is the new CJ45-T. It's listed with a Sitka top but Adirondack is apparently an option. I'll have to check on whether a German top can also be ordered. So many choices!!

Don't have any sitka Collings. Topwoods are either adirondack or german. Backs and sides are the standard three: mahogany, rosewood and maple. Love the mahogany/adi on my OM1 and D1AT as much as the mahogany/German on the CJ35 or the rosewood/German on the OM2. Ordered German top for my SJ on a whim, and am not disappointed.

I love what Collings does with Mahogany. Adirondack and Sitka tops paired with Mahogany is my preference.
