OM1A JL pickguard

Just took delivery of an OM1A JL here in the U.K. interestingly enough, it came with the pick-guard not fitted but packed separately within the case. Is this standard practice?
I can’t make up my mind whether to fit it or not.

I got a SC guitar like that once so it is common but I wouldn't say it's a standard practice. All I can say is be careful and take your time putting it on the guitar. If you don't get it stuck on just right it will be all you can see whenever you look at the guitar. Do overs are allot worse than getting it right the first time.

Chris, It all depends on how your dealer ordered the guitar.

Hi Greg. I figured as much. I think I will leave it off. I don’t tend to dig in very hard. It’s going to be an interesting journey from what I am finding during these early days.
Nice to have the option though.

Hi Chris. Congratulations on the new guitar.

If you decide to install the pick guard later your dealer should be willing and able to assist you. He or someone he knows probably has experience at it.

I think the guards look nice with the JL tops. How are you liking the neck carve?

@GW. The neck carve seems great to me. I seem to have got used to it very quickly. I like the finish too.
