Strings
Re: Strings
I'm using D'Ad Nickel Bronze 13.6 - 56 (Balanced Tension) on my CJmhA, switched from EJ17s several months ago. It took a few days to get dialed in, been my go-to since.
Re: Strings
I'm still using Pearse New Mediums.
Re: Strings
I play a D1A Varnish, tried a few: EJ NB Nickel Bronze, EJ17's, Pearce PB and 80/20, Magnan, Newtone 80/20, and now back to EJ Nickel Bronze mediums. None were bad, but the NB's will be my first choice from now on.

Re: Strings
On the old forum most people seem to prefer John Pearse, so I bought four sets (one for each of my DS guitars and tried them.
They were certainly warmer than my usual EJ17s - and I can understand why some might like that, but as JPs are considerably more expensive (and I have a lot of soundholes to feed) I've gone back to D'addarios.
I think my days of experimentation with strings has ended - I love my Collings guitars and am happy with the sound and longevity of D'addarios.

Re: Strings
The other brand I use is Pyramid. For whatever reason it sounds better than everything else on my '43 D-18, however, this brand doesn't sound as good on any other acoustic I own. Just my opinion of course but it's held true for a few years.

Re: Strings
I am happy with Pearse New Mediums on my D2H.
Re: Strings
I used Pearse Phosphor Bronze for years, but once I tried Elixir Nanoweb PB’s, I’ve never looked back. They sound better, feel better, and last 10 times as long. I’m never going back.
