Collings mandolins leave the factory with J74 strings. Do any of you have experience using J75's?
Thanks!

A5, I've used both. 74, 75 and other brands. I came from a varnish Weber Yellowstone that needed 75s to drive it. When i went to the Collings MT and later a Heiden and Ellis, 74s sounded better, without choking the top. On the Heiden in particular, Michael H told me that he voices his instruments for '74s.....and they did sound noticeably better.

Thanks, Greg.

I put 75's on Thursday and had a little gig last night, and didn't like the feel at all. I put GHS 270's on this morning and really like them so far.

Great advice from MikeH. I’m a J74 player myself. Never let me down!!!
