I am interested a Collings I-35 Deluxe. Does anyone have both the I-35 and the LC? I am this misconception in my head that laminate maple goes on cheap guitars. I know I am wrong and the LC is required to achieve the 335 sound. But what is the difference between the I-35 and the I-35 LC? This video really doesn't help me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egddyURgrew

The video uses too much processing. A clean recording would show the somewhat subtle differences though. The laminate damps just a little of certain frequencies (mostly highs). This give a smoother, darker sound than the solid version.

Laminate gives a slightly more rounder sound and a little less sustain.

This is mostly relevant only when running clean. Once processing is introduced, I think it is tough to tell much on many settings. Both are great guitars. No bad choice there.

Oh, didn't even realize that. I thought these two guitars were running clean. I'll look for other ones then. It's either I-35 or PRS McCarty 594 Hollowbody II.
