Traditional Collings case
Does anyone know if there is a slight width difference between a Collings traditional Dreadnought case and a Collings case for a Cj35? My guess is there probably is no difference other than the interior lining of the Jumbo case might be a bit thinner than the Dreadnought version so as to accommodate the the slightly wider CJ 35.

I believe the Collings TKL case will easily accommodate a D or a CJ, but the Collings-made vintage D case is too narrow for the CJ. The Collings-made vintage CJ case exists, but is quite limited in number.

Ok thank you. I was not quite sure. I believe that he CJ is a bit wider in the lower area than a dreadnought by maybe 1/2 an inch

I have my D2H in a Collings Traditional CJ case. Fits very nicely. Very glad I tried the standard dread in the CJ case before it got away from me.

Collings Traditional Dreadnought and Collings CJ35 both use deluxe hardshell cases, but there can be slight differences due to body shape and dimensions. The CJ35 is a slope-shoulder jumbo with a slightly shorter scale length (24 7/8") and roomier neck profile compared to a traditional dreadnought, but they share similar overall body width and depth. Because of the CJ35's slope-shouldered jumbo design, its case might have a slightly different internal shape or thinner lining to accommodate the body contours, but the width difference compared to the traditional dreadnought case is minimal or nonexistent.
Multiple sources say the CJ35’s body dimensions are close to a traditional dreadnought, just with subtle shape differences and slightly different bracing and scale length. This suggests that a traditional dreadnought case would fit a CJ35 reasonably well, though a dedicated CJ35 case is designed for a perfect fit around its unique shape. This likely means the CJ35 case lining might be slimmer or contoured differently to match the guitar’s shape without significant change in external width.
In summary, the width difference between a Collings traditional dreadnought case and a CJ35 case is very slight, if at all. Any difference mostly comes from internal lining and contouring to best fit the specific guitar shape rather than a sizable change in external dimensions. So the guess that the jumbo case has thinner or differently shaped lining to fit the CJ35 better is accurate and consistent with available information.
