I always enjoy your videos. This one is no exception. A great comparison of two really great guitars. Thank you for taking the time to do this video and posting it.
One question on the 30. Do you hear any difference in dog ear p-90's vs "regular" soap p-9's?

Thanks so much for checking this out and the kind post...I've only had a couple of other P90 guitars so i don't have a vast amount of experience. The other P90 i have are on a PRS and are routed - the dog eared ones on the I30 may benefit from some of the 'liveliness' of the guitar as the top has a good bit of vibration in it. I would be inclined to think that could make a difference if the sustain and maybe even tone of what the P90 sends to the amp.

Great question i hadn't even thought about.

thanks again,
dale

Dale, that was fantastic. I appreciate all the time you took to do this comparison. I have a question for you. How does the Statesman sound compared to the I-30?

thanks,
Bill

Hello Bill...sincere thanks for checking this out and the kind post. I'm very sorry to say i've never played a Statesman. Hopefully someone can add to this discussion who has played both it and I30.

your friend,
dale

I have a SoCo LC 16 Deluxe coming in two days. I almost purchased the I-35LC but was told the SoCo 16LC is closer in tone to a vintage ES-335. My first Collings and I'm very excited!

So have you gotten in to it yet? I am also considering.

What are your impressions?

Unfortunately, I purchased the guitar used out of Austin, TX off of Reverb and the shipping (Fed Ex) has been delayed because of the Winter Storm. It was suppose to arrive yesterday, but now it is simply on hold. I'm a bit concerned, imagining the guitar is being kept in some sub-freezing freight warehouse in Dallas. At any rate, when it arrives, I intend on allowing it to acclimate a few hours before I open the case. It will probably be next week before it arrives, but when it does, I'll let you know.
