All Collings guitars have the same mortise and tenon hybrid neck joint. Instead of being a straight mortise/tenon, it is cut in a tapered triangle (from a few feet away you might think it was a dovetail). This triangle-shaped tenon has threaded neck bolts that are attached through the heel block, and then concealed by mahogany plugs. The fingerboard extension is glued down.

I have Pearse PB’s on mine and love the tone on this particular guitar.

Raymond -
Hello! I did. I am still stunned. I was killing time with my mom and picked it up just because of the smaller nut. Anyway, the rest is history.

I bought my OM1A JL from AMW. When it arrived I was expecting the D'Addario NB1253's, but it had Phosphor Bronze stings on it. So I called and Steve said, "Oh Raymond hates those strings so he strung it with standard D'Addario EJ-16"....lol So, it is now well known that Raymond doesn't like the Nickel Bronze strings.
The guitar sounded great out of the box, as Raymond strung it. I played it a few weeks. I then put the Nickel Bronze set that was in the case on. Definitely different. Maybe a little dryer and not as lush. But after a few days they really grew on me. Those stayed a month or so and then restrung with JP PB lights. They sounded amazing too. I'm back to a set of Nickel Bronze and really like them. I'll probably try a PB set next time, but I've come to the conclusion, any of the strings I've tried sound great. Hey, maybe it's the guitar!!
Sweet little box!

i've had this guitar for a month with the factory installed nickel strings, and the sound is so good, i don't want to change a thing. i may try these strings on my other collings guitars.
