Hi all. Was hoping to get some opinions regarding the 14 fret size O models. Specifically the O1T. I can never decide if I like smaller guitars or not...I like the idea of them, but when playing a smaller guitar I often find myself missing that bass you get with a bigger guitar...that said the quick response and the comfort of holding a smaller guitar is compelling. Love to hear thoughts from folks that have 0's or experience with them.

i had an 01avn for several years. It was a great travel guitar and excellent playing with fiddles. Lots of clarity, power & focus. These days, since Collings makes them i'd go with a 001GT (14 fret)....traditional build, german top. I've had several 00 size Martins 75 to 80 yrs old with adirondack tops....old red spruce really has the sound i gravitate towards. That's the trade off with smaller guitars....comfort, clarity, and cut. Bass is over-rated. A few years with an 00 once it loses its new edge and gains some warmth .....

i am a longtime D person, but over the years i've started to enjoy a small body. and the 0- is not too small. i love the short scale of the 12-fret and 14-fret versions. couple that with the 1-11/16 neck on the 14-fret, i can play some pieces that my small hands could not handle on a longer scale or wider neck. for me, they have plenty of nice "round" tone, wonderful sustain and volume. after having had a parlor for some time, i don't think of the 0- as a small guitar!:)

Collings single 0’s are really wonderful. No, not a dread in bass, but also not a dread in size. :D

They give up little to an OM, and after having owned several over the years, I am kicking myself for not having one currently. Great guitars!
