290 with serial number on warranty card is 8480?
I just purchased (but have not received) a 290; the seller on Reverb, Doghair. The owner shows a picture of a warranty/registration card that says Model: 290 and Serial #8480. In my research, this seems impossible as a match but I am new to Collings Electric. I do own an acoustic. Am I being scammed? Looks real enough but this is confusing.

Collings electric models are numbered separately from the acoustics. If I recall correctly (and based on a quick perusal of a thread from another forum about 290 serials), the 8 would indicate the year (2008) and the 480 would indicate its unique number in the sequence of 290 builds since they began (2006). The serial should be inside the control cavity. The full serial number includes the model number; e.g., 2908480. If anyone else can confirm or chime in, that'd be great.
