Just nabbed my first Collings!
Just nabbed my first Collings!
Hey gang, you seem cool! Can I hang out here?
I just purchased my first (new to me) Collings, a D2H from 1996.
The cool part was I bought it from Mass Street Music, whose owner is very involved in the Collings story. It's likely this might not be new information to anyone here, but it was a factor in my purchase.
Anyway, this guitar is sublime and I'm looking forward to learning more about it here.
Thanks for having me.

Hi,
My 1999 D2h, bought in France, was to be one of the first in my country.
I always treasure it.
Since that time I find that it sublimates in the mids and bass, the treble beings always very crystalline.
From what I've followed the models have changed to be lighter... I'm not sure if this had a big influence on the production and the characteristic sound of the brand.

Welcome.
There is just nothing like Collings guitars.
And the owner of Mass Street has a very deep and long history with Martin as well...

Congrats!
I love my D2h from 2015, it plays and sounds great.
Have owned a couple from the late '90s and really love the mature sound from that era; my 0002h is a 1996 model, and have to say it is a glorious sounding instrument.
Do enjoy!

Thanks for the nice welcome, everyone. I bought the guitar to up my game and commitment to the singer-songwriter racket. This thing has songs in it and is teaching me to play guitar all over again with ... more delicacy? Also, it wants to shred Bluegrass. I wish I was a better Bluegrass player. I guess now I must start working on it a bit,
