Hi Collings Fans,

I recently purchased a Collings D1 Traditional with Adirondack top.

What is the standard bracing wood?

Is it Adirondack? To match the top wood?

Or is it Sitka?

I looked on Collings website and it does not state what is the standard wood for bracing?

Hey David,

I just bought a D1AT Sunburst satin finish guitar from Eddies Guitars. Looking at the spec sheet it shows Sitka as the bracing for the top. You could go to Eddies website all look at the specs of the different Collings adi top guitars to see if any do have adi bracing. Mine will not arrive until this Friday. I do have a 2014 D1G and D2H which are very nice guitars.

I had a sense that their standard is Sitka bracing on all their tops unless the customer requests Adirondack bracing as a custom option. I absolutely love it and can’t stop playing it.
I purchased the dark sunburst with satin finish. I prefer gloss but I am enjoying the difference that satin finish brings. Thanks for your insights .
